Entente Cordiale

I’d just like to extend my thanks to the French internet user (I didn’t have the wherewithal to ask his name) who contacted me out of the blue yesterday to offer his sympathies and condolences. Even though I am a long way from London, and untouched by the immediate effects of the terrorist outrages, I was still shocked and upset at the death and injury caused, and moved that someone would take the time to contact me personally. I don’t doubt that he and many others sent similar messages to numerous other UK internet users. I’ve also had messages from friends around the world who I chat to via Instant Message services, and their thoughts are appreciated.

To me, the messages of support and good will sent to the British media by ordinary citizens around the world are more precious than those from expected sources like politicians and heads of state.
