BBEdit updated to 8.1

Bare Bones Software have announced the release of BBEdit 8.1. BBEdit is the premier text editor for Mac OS, and one of my favourite applications; I use it for all the HTML, CSS, Perl, PHP, Javascript and Apache Configuration File editing on my sites, as well as for rescuing plain text files that have been mangled by the likes of Microsoft Word and Notepad (shudder). Along with DragThing and Quicksilver, I always look forward to a BBEdit update, install it immediately, and scour the release notes and preferences window for new features and changes.

The main addition in 8.1 is integration with the Subversion CVS system and a new Text Factory menu (the gear icon seems a bit fuzzy to me). Improving CVS support is irrelevant to a lone designer like myself, but there are plenty of other changes, additions and bug fixes to make updating worthwhile. If you are running Mac OS 10.3.5 or higher, but still haven’t made the move from BBEdit 7 to version 8, do it now!
